Unofficial chrome extension for joule
dennis.li.92
Hi all,
I just made a chrome extension to control the Joule. I figured it might be of interest to some people here
If you wanna give it a try, you can check it out here:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chrome-joule/lifggfcoblmpbobfobpfhhjkiempjckn
Here's what it looks like:
I haven't tested it with any other accounts, so if you do install it, lemme know if it works! (And if for some reason you're curious about the code, check out
https://github.com/dennisli92/chromeJoule
or the blog post I wrote on it at

Cool!

I gave it a shot and it seems to work fine. One suggestion and a question:
-Would it be difficult to add the option for F instead of C?
-When I opened the extension it automatically knew which Joule to connect to (mine). Does it do that though some ChefSteps login cookie or what? i.e. How could I change the device it connects to?

1) Definitely not difficult, but I didn't want to bother with switching between F/C at the time. I'll add it to the TODO list of features
2)Yup. It connects to the last used Joule associated with your chefsteps account. So if you're not logged in, it won't work (and prompt you to login at chefsteps.com). Right now, there's no way to change devices, in part because I don't own multiple Joules with which to test that out.

FYI, just added support for F/C

Very cool Idea, but I couldn't get it to work. Maybe cause my Joule isn't seeing WiFi for some reason lately? Or does your extension run off Bluetooth?
dennis.li.92
That's probably why - it requires wireless to work. Sorry about that

Hi Dennis,
First let me start with: Wow! Amazing idea and great work!
I have a question about the minimum temperature. In the ActiveCirculatorProgramView class you limit the lower temperature to 20 degree celsius as the minimum temperature. Is there a particular reason for this or would it be possible to actually tell Joule any number above 0.1 (as stated to be working for bluetooth by Steve in this thread:
https://www.chefsteps.com/forum/posts/hey-joule-team-please-bring-back-low-temp-or-circulation-mode
)
I am mainly asking as it would allow for some kind of circulation only mode (aka ice bath feature). Looking forward to your or someone elses answer. Thanks in advance!!!
