International Warranty for Joule

Hello, I understand that you don't directly ship internationally.. However I can obtain the Joule via 2 ways:

1. A friend is travelling to the US, and they can bring one for me.

2. I can order online via Amazon India, and the seller will ship it internationally.

My preference however will be to go for the first as it will save me costs. Will the warranty be covered for me in both cases? Should a defect arise where I have to use the warranty, how will be go about it since I am in India?
