New Year's Eve Party Ideas

Hello Everyone,

I'm hosting some colleagues this New Year's Eve in my new home and was looking for some ideas. They requested it after they saw my Thanksgiving dinner I did for some friends, but since it is New Year's Eve, I don't immediately think sit down dinner.

Those of you that have hosted a New Year's Eve dinner, any ideas? Some fun hors d'oeuvres to start and then a buffet of the main courses? Standing rib roast as the center piece?

8-10 people total. Nothing too crazy.

Here's one dish idea:

ChefSteps Sweet Potato Puree, Scallop, crispy bacon lardon as garnish.

I feel it is missing something. Some type of herb oil?

Maybe arugula or nasturtium? Chive might work as well

Was thinking chive. Actually going to have to change this dish as I forgot that last time I did scallops my hoise smelled like it for the rest of the night. Don’t really want that smell to linger the entire time people are over. Gotta figure out a substitute.
