Hi Everyone,

Since there's been some discussion previously on the forums about the Control Freak, I figured i'd see if there are any fellow owners out there?

I have the Sage (European) version instead of the Breville, there's nothing different except voltage.

- Has anyone figured out where to download firmware/software updates for this thing?

- Anyone up for sharing their programs that they've created?

I have two of them and tried to copy/paste programs from one to the other which works great and if you look on the USB you can share the files easily so we can share some ideas

While it does look interesting, an $1800 price tag is somewhat prohibitive.

Well that thing looks incredible. I'm not going to be able to switch to gas for a little while, but to compensate for my shitty 4 burner electric stove, I should probably buy an induction unit.

Not this though. Damn. I wish.

It is quite the investement yes, but compared to other brands of similar quality like Gagganau it's not much different. And the tech is so extremely cool. I've been able to get things to a certain quality level i've never achieved before with gas on my La Canche

I just got one. Haven't looked at recipes yet (and mine came sans usb stick). Still in the process of learning how to use it – e.g realising what temperatures I was cooking at before!

It's a great bit of kit.

I just got one, and super impressed with it. Emailed and got a firmware update from Breville. Looks like it was last updated in December of last year. I'd be up for sharing cook temps and times - the files too.

I managed to finally get the firmware update as well via the European distributor. And the issue that I had is gone on both machines. I'm still up for sharing idea's and presets!!

The one thing I'd like, which I hoped the update would bring is multiple steps in temperature control programs instead of just being able to set one temp for a certain time.

What changed exactly? I got the update pretty early so didn't notice any changes.

Multi step programs would be super nice. I programmed in one for making a caramel sauce that has two different temperatures. I just created two programs and called them St1 and St2.

I got one used a couple of months ago, and Breville have been absolutely useless about the firmware update. I'm running firmware 45 22 and am having a recurring issue with a 00 error that requires me to unplug it completely and wait to get anywhere. Given that you would (presumably) also be using a 220/240 version, would you mind sharing the firmware?

Edit: managed to get hold of new firmware

I've had a look at the program file format, and there doesn't seem to be any sort of allowance for multi-step recipes. It's very lean. Each is program is 36 bytes, 20 which are set aside for the name. The 10 bytes following the name are empty. The remaining 6 indicate temperature, power, time and actions.

Sorry for the late response, I wasn't keeping an eye on this post, more then happy to send anyone the firmware.

I'm running software version 8.29 (after the received update) I'm assuming they use different software versions for Sage (EU Market) and Breville (US Market). Although I mentioned my error 0 problem is indeed gone, on one of my machines the whole thing just keeps rebooting 9 out of 10 times. I've asked them if there's something that they can do

So, received the 50.29 firmware from them, which is actually a Breville firmware and not for Sage devices. (voltage is only difference) Issue does seem to be gone though, but they surely need to sort their stuff out in regards to firmware availability and giving out the right one.

I've asked, again, for the latest EU firmware, since both the 8.29 and 50.29 are both dating from Sept/Oct 2017
