What to do after I finish cooking?

This is probably a stupid obvious question, but I can’t find a clear answer. We finished cooking, and I know I can either stop Joule from heating with the app or by holding the button on the top.

We did so, and the light is white. So I know it’s no longer running or heating, but is there another step to turn it off? Or do we just unplug at that point?

Additionally, what is the best practice for cleanup? Wait for everything to cool before removing it?

I know this is super basic stuff, but I’d feel better if there were an official answer. It’s particukarly confusing since “off” is still technically powered on.

Yup just unplug, white light is just an indication that unit is plugged in and has power. If you tap the three little bars in the upper left corner of app it will bring you to a menu that includes help and support. It gives tips for the care of Joule including the 1:1 white vinegar to water at 140f method for hard water build up, etc...

When I get done I take the Joule and wrap it with a dish towel and swing the water out holding on to the button end of it.

Agreed, just cancel any current cook using the app or long press of the physical button on top. After you get the solid white light, you know your Joule is in standby mode. Simply unplug at that point if you're done cooking for the day and wish to put it away. If you unplug Joule while it is actively cooking, you'll get a warning that Joule has lost power. As it can draw 1000W, that could also create a spark if you unplug it while heating, which over time is hard on plugs and outlets... so best to put it in standby mode first, before unplugging.

Unless the water has become contaminated, I just wipe down Joule with a microfiber cloth, coil the cord around it and tuck the free end into the water intake around the magnetic foot. If the water has become oily or something in it due to a bag mishap or egg shell breaking, I'll follow the instructions to unscrew the foot, use a fork or paperclip to remove the plastic impeller, and then carefully stuff a damp microfiber cloth down around the shaft to wipe up any mess. Seems like there's an opportunity here for someone to create a special cleaning brush, sort of like a bottle brush, just for Joule.
