Chemex vs cheesecloth
John_Davies_66346
I just watched videos on Pectin Free Juice and Banana Juice. The first recommends Chemex the second cheesecloth (for people on a budget anyway). I'd rather have a centrifuge, but oh well.
What are the differences between the two approaches?
Thanks.

- that's a good question. cheesecloth I have, but I've been considering getting a Chemex setup ...

You don't actually need to purchase a chemex, any coffee filter will work. The chemex stand is just more stable of a set up.

I found the gold reusable flat bottomed coffee filter fits perfectly in a 1 liter corning lab beaker. It will just sit in the top. You can still put a regular filter in as well if you want. I have used it to filter banana juice and stock. It does take time but works quite well. My next plan is to try my new Yuma Coffee siphon to filter my stock. I plan to use the fact that it works on negative pressure to filter to speed up my filtering. I will post pictures and the results as soon as I make my next stock. Maybe beef stock for Pho this weekend.
