Induction Coil Question

Hey everyone,

I got a new GE Cafe range this week. It is pretty incredible. Variable knob control on a range. It’s like having invisible gas!

Anyway, I noticed that my 11” burner may have the coil out or center. Is this something that anyone has experienced with their range or portable? Not sure how big of a deal it is but was curious. I’m attaching two pictures to show how the ring seems to be back of center. One is a cast iron pan and one is an AC d5 saute. Yes, both are centered on the circle

The sauté pan looks fine, but it does appear that, in the picture with your cast iron skillet, your element may be off center. I've never experienced that before. If it's interfering with use of the other "burners" I'd definately contact the vendor/manufacturer/etc. If it does not, and it works, i personally wouldn't worry about it.

I have a service guy coming Monday for something small anyway so I may mention this to him.

The cast iron ring eventually expanded to cover the entire pan as it got hotter and boiled more, and cast iron not being an even conductor of heat I thought maybe it was the pan. I then turned the cast iron 180 degrees thinking the ring may move forward in the pan with the cooler spot now in the back. It actually ended up looking identical to the picture I posted. Weirdest thing. I think because the cast iron is slower to conduct the heat across the pan, my better clad pans hide the off center ring as the heat spreads quicjly enough to make the rong more or less disappear.

Not a huge deal and depending what the service guy says I may just live with it.
