waring extreme

I've been using my waring extreme for about a month.

Is it common for the waring extreme to smell of burning (wires?) when running for more than 30 seconds?

Also, a week ago I was making humus and the unit started to smoke.

I don't feel like I have been stressing the unit (although smoke? maybe i was)

Any similar experiences? Should I be concerned?

That doesn't sound right. I would return it and get a new one.

@chris young...or anyone....so I returned my blender and am satisfied with the replacement, which does not smoke and smell like burning wires! However....new concern...i made a batch of kosho from the new Maximum Flavor cookbook....wizzed up a bunch of citrus zest (lots)...the recipe also included, some juice from the citrus, lemon grass, hot pepper, salt and a few drops of citrus oil. Now, my blender canister is no longer clear, but discolored and cloudy. This happen to anyone else? ...fully functional, just sort of looks like crap now.

Mmm, citrus oil and hard spices will absolutely scratch and opacify the polycarbonate container. Because it's a commercial blender, regulatory compliance means they have to make the pitcher out of a shatter-resistant plastic or metal. I know that Waring makes a metal pitcher for the blender, but we just live with the fact that the pitchers are going to get scratched heavily with use.

Yeah mine has a nice orange hue from a mole I made, such is the cost of having good food!

So while it may discolor, it won't affect future products, right?

I don't see it impacting future products...mine is more of a home PR issue. You see, the growing number of kitchen "toys" populating the counter tops can be an annoyance for the wife. When they actually start to look "used"...well, it only adds to the stress. Anyhow..thanks for the info!

No it won't impact anything, it'll wear off eventually too. Mine has already started to come down in hue after some use.
