Immersion Blender

Looking for recommendations on a solid variable speed immersion blender to give the smoothest blend (for pureeing, etc., not to make smoothies). I keep seeing the Breville get recommended (due to the 15 speed settings) but the motor seems pretty light on power (200w or less). I like the Kitchenaid 5 speed since it comes with the different heads, but same issue on power. The All Clad has a 600w motor, but I can't tell how many speeds it has, and Braun MultiQuick 7 and 9 have a 450w motor, but I wasn't sure how well they worked. The Braun is interesting because it has a "how hard you hold down" variable speed button. Any tips would be appreciated!

Have used a Bamix for many years and have been very satisfied.

I'll second the Bamix. While quite a bit more cash than the other it is a work horse IME. Two speeds, comes with three interchangeable blades, can buy a small food pro for it.

I've always found any brand to work well, but over time the plastic gears break down (the models i had - kitchenaid, breville, etc) and if you have anything too thick, it will just break the teeth off the gears instantly.

For smoothness my blender (VitaMix) handily outperforms my stick blender (Bamix). The stick blender is just more convenient sometimes.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I ordered both the All Clad and the Braun and will let you know. Bamix’s look great and their reviews are stellar, but they are a bit pricey (that and I wanted more speed options).

KitchenAid KHB2561OB 5-Speed Hand Blender. I purchased this after reading the reviews, which -- like most reviews -- are mixed. Maybe some people received defective blenders, maybe some people don't like to read directions and don't umderstand how to use the blender properly, but I have to agree with the majority of reviewers: this is a well made, well designed, multipurpose tool.

buying an immersion blender can be a tough decision. I'm using "Cuisinart CSB-79 Smart Stick 2-Speed 200-watt Immersion Hand Blender" from a very long time. It's comfort to handle, I think you should give this machine a try.

I have been using the Braun for about 3 years. The thing is indestructible. I use mine for a lot of chores around the kitchen even making myself an iced mixed drink occasionally. Which is not easy for motor though this beast deals even with ice like it's nothing. It's really easy to use and it was these guys who recommended me to give it a try: https://juicersblenders.org/
Moreover, it's quite easy to clean. I can't recall the name of a particular model, but recent Braun's are even more powerful, so give it a try!
