vacuum pump?

I want to make a chamber vacuum for de-gassing pureed items, doing some pressure infusions. I would love to buy a high quality chamber sealer, but don't want to spend the $.

I'm looking at rotary vane vacuum pumps, but don't know about how strong is 'strong enough'. This pump, for example. Anyone have details or knowledge on this?

That pump will certainly boil water at room temperature; so it should be good enough for de-aerating and infusing. You will need to find, or build, a strong container into which you place your materials. At full vacuum, the pressure on the walls will be almost 15 pounds/sq. inch.

And you will need fittings and a shut-off valve to release the vacuum  slowly.
