I use Joule for a lot of unconventional tasks. Warming bottles of syrup for pancakes. Cleaning lab glass. I even recently used it to recondition the rosewood scales on a vintage Sabatier by cooking the handle in beeswax heated to just above its melting point.
So what's to stop a guy like me from using it to give himself a pedicure? The nice Thai lady charges $30 for her services, which is fair. But can't help but think that throwing Joule in the right tub with some magnesium salts and some essential oils sounds mighty nice. But I don't want to fudge up Bruno. (That's my Joule's name) Dave Arnold was talking about foot hygene on Cooking Issues two weeks ago, so I figured this question was fair game. And it's way more interesting than whatever boring crap is going on over at Cook With Joule (peace be upon them).
As I see it, the salts shouldn't pose much of a problem if I do a quick descale afterwards. Essential oils might be more problematic, but probably less so if I use them in diluted form (like in commercial bath salt and "bath bomb" products). Citrus oils and plastics don't always get along. Any essential oil recommendations that are Joule-friendly? Keep Burno alive! And keep my feet steady flossin'!
