Premium/pass aside. It appears Chris Young has left ChefSteps and “most of the staff” has been let go. Are all the old chefs and photographer gone? They were great and made ChefSteps ChefSteps.
I just thought everything was as it was before - the release of joule prompting a switch in CS priorities to everything Joule. I had no idea anything had changed or that Grant left ChefSteps (I knew he was off doing other things but I figured it was just because they weren’t doing videos any more and the “business” had taken off so he had time to do that stuff). Was it a formal leaving?
I have so many questions:
Did grant quit
What catalyzed the change at CS - why fire everyone if business is good
Why did Chris leave, and did he do so on good terms
Does anyone work at ChefSteps anymore?
What is this new ChefSteps? A return to the original and much missed form of cool shit? Is the focus still spurs vide? God I hope not
Does this mean joule production is done or will be done shortly? What does that mean for future updates? “It will be supported” is vague - for how long and to what extent.
Is grants show dead then...because it seems like this is his thing now
Will this community be active again? Hell that last time a staff member posted here was years ago....and now we’ve come to find it’s because there are no staff members. Should I bother reinvesting in time money and interest in this community again, or will it just go dead again in 6 months? And yes, what if premium users? I honestly don’t mind paying again if I’m means the company can get going again....but what happened with the money from joule sales and the money that can now be funneled by brevile. Is premium dead? Lifetime access to a dead product is just bad business...but again....70 a year to get back my interest in cooking is cheap.
God that email was weird. Someone who still works here needs to clear stuff up. What the hell happened. Why did this community go dead to begin with. Why did the content ever stop.
While I’m ranting- please go back to the occasional OG vids. No talking, dope visuals and sounds. Just had a certain appeal to it that is missing in the “new” videos.
