I've been searching Google looking for an answer to making my own sous vide lid.
Not a whole lot of info and some of it is misinformed.
I wanted to get a container that I could use specifically for using my Joule and didn't want to pay extra for something that a company put their label on.
So I went out and found a 4.75 gallon Cambro food box and a lid to match.
I also grabbed the Joule "big clamp"
I clamped the Joule to the container to see how much clearance I needed in order to cut the hole and notch.
Then I looked around the house to find stuff that I needed. Measuring tape, Painters tape, straight edge, sharpie, happened to have a 2 ⅛ hole saw and I have a Jigsaw (with a "wood" blade)
I taped the area that needed to b

e prepped. I marked out where to cut the hole.
I drilled out the hole then squared off both sides to the edge of the lid.
Then used my jigsaw to cut the straight lines. I used a piece of sandpaper to clean up the small imperfections and some fine sandpaper with water to polish the edges.
There is some room around the Joule which I planned on having. I can always add some rubber edge trim later on or I'll just leave it as is.
Took me maybe 20-25 minutes total.
