Soda Chargers - Metallic Taste

Possibly a question or an advisory. After going through a 10 pack of ISI brand chargers, I ordered a larger set on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/100-Leland-Soda-Chargers-Seltzer/dp/B00304SLAO/ref=pd_sim_k_2) with good reviews. CO2 is CO2, I figured. Anyway, I carbonated a CS juice soda and some plain water, they are both blown out by a really harsh metallic taste. It tastes the same as water left too long in an iron tea kettle. What might be going on here? I found one review citing the same problem, the rest are extremely positive. Am I just overcarbonating with 2 chargers? I've never noticed this kind of taste from a Sodastream or the Isi chargers.

I have heard the same thing from others using that particular brand, seems to be pretty brand specific, i've had good luck with the Kayser brand other than the iSi brand.

All cartridges are definitely not created equal. Many inexpensive ones are contaminated with machine oils used in the manufacturing equipment. Some are poorly crimped, and leak gas over time and will have less than the expected quantity of gas. ISI makes very nice cartridges and uses a manufacturing process that avoids any chance of contamination by industrial lubricants. There are other good brands too, but there are many bad cartridges that I would personally avoid using.

Oddly enough, the guys who use compressed gas for air rifles and paintball guns are very aware of how badly some brands of gas cartridges are contaminated (it messes up their guns) and it's an active topic on their forums based on what some of my google searches have turned up.
