Breville/Joule Air fryer

Hi community - I'm slowly coming around to the thought of a toaster oven/air fy combo and wanted to know the general feedback from those that use one. Obv choice does seem to be Breville but appreciate this is an unbiased community, so hit me with your thoughts.

Also keen to hear debate on regular Breville fryer vs Joule enabled, call me a cynic but I'm not 100% sold on needing a 'smart' app based oven. Devils advocate and all... appreciate all and any user insights

I am a huge fan of countertop ovens. I have the non-Joule version of the Breville oven and I basically never use my actual oven anymore. It preheats quickly, the convection is excellent, it’s large enough to roast a whole chicken or bake a (decent-sized) loaf of bread, and it doesn’t heat up the whole kitchen. I had a cheap countertop oven before the Breville one and the Breville one is definitely worth it. It’s really changed my habits around cooking; I use the oven a lot more than I used to because it’s so convenient. The only thing it doesn’t do as well as a real oven is broil.

I don’t have the Joule oven so I can’t compare, but I’m also skeptical that it’s worth it. You can still download the app and view all the recipes, so I guess all you’re getting is the automatic temperature control…. but how often have you actually cooked something where changing the temperature mid-cook was necessary, or needed to remotely start or stop your oven? I think if it integrated with a connected probe thermometer and could actually accurately tell you when your food is done, that would be more useful, e.g. like what https://combustion.inc/ is doing.

One note, if you run the oven and your Joule immersion circulator at the same time on the outlet, you may blow a fuse.
