Chatting with Chris Young on Reddit on the subred for his new Combustion thermometer, and he mentioned something about designing the Joule that I've never heard, and I've owned 2 since 2017:

The space between the body and the foot of the Joule is a clip to hold the end of the power cord.

I just ran over to the kitchen, and it's true!

Just blows my mind that I didn't realize that and I've been wrapping and knoting the thing for all these years (they never told us, did they?)!

I have reread this comment a dozen times and looked at my joule and I cannot visualize it. can you take a picture to describe what you mean?

At the bottom of the joule, there is a space between the magnet and the body tube. The cord will stick in there.

Actually, on my Turbo model, I'm not sure it is such a good idea, since the foot is half plastic and half metal, and it looks like pushing the cord in there may stress the junction between the two and eventually break it.
