Missing Recipes

(I have posted this in various forms a couple of times but it seems to disappear: I will try to make it short with no screenshots to see if that helps)

I can't use the Breville joule app. Not because it doesn't work but because all the "basic" recipes are missing.

So I have to use the legacy joule app, find out what the recipe is, then go in and program the Breville app.

Examples of things which simply do not exist in the Breville app, at all, so it is ridiculously annoying to work with:

- Beef Chuck roast

- Tri-Tip

Remember that killer tri-tip you made with your original joule a few months ago? Want to make one again with the Breville app? Too bad, it's not there.

This is really very frustrating and I can't tell why (the app has a ton of recipes, but _no_ basic ones, just fancy ones with lots of stuff I don't need or want).

Maybe by raising it in here someone will notice on the product management side who can say "whoa, how did we miss something so basic?" and get it fixed?

(Hardware is fine, btw, and I do appreciate the Breville plug, I just wish I could make the stuff I can already make.....)

I'd be annoyed if I "upgraded" to a new device or app that didn't have the content associated with the old app. Granted, I almost always use mine in manual mode rather than relying on recipes, but even so, it's sort of sad that the knowledge contained in the older recipes didn't get ported over to the new app. But as you say, at least that content is still on the website.

You _need_ to use the app to use the device. The app (the old one) has so many recipes in it, that is usually sufficient: you just use it and away you go.

So.... no, if I wanted to use the website _I would use an Anova because it is cheaper and I can use it without my phone_.

Note that I still use the website, but for learning new things: when I have a recipe I like already in the app, I just use the app: I have done it before, I know how it will work out, I just want the timing and temperature and the app does it. The visual doneness guides are awesome for this....

No, you don't need to use the app to use the device!

BTW, it's never been true that all of the website content was in the old app either.

I certainly don’t know how to use my (old) Joule without the app. How does one do so? (I don’t have Alexa or a google hub)

Edit: just to be clear, I manually cook all the time. But always using the joule app. Someone below mentioned FB messenger. Good point! But alas I don’t use that either.

Hi Dana, the tri tip recipe exists in the Breville Joule app! You can find it under 'Cook guides" > beef > tri tip. The cook guides category is under Browse by on the app home screen. Chuck roast is there as well! Our apologies that they aren't coming up in the search bar, we are working on resolving this! They are in the app though!
