Beckman Centrifuge Bottles
Jonathan_Hunter_76993
I just picked up an Beckman Centrifuge and it is in good working order. I ordered some bottles but while i am waiting for them to arrive I am wondering what kind of bottles i can use while i wait. First, the centrifuge runs at about 4000 rmp and the metal canisters that you put the plastic insert probably can only take about 250ml, Do i need to use these holders? I could probably spin about 4L if i did it without the plastic holders. Also, can i just spin things in a vacuum bag in the metal canisters? Some centrifuge bottles are pretty pricey, is this because the plastic is under such force.

I've got a Beckman TJ-6 with the swinging buckets and the best way I found is by grinding the rim of disposable plastic containers. They fit almost perfectly and they are very cheap to replease if they get some fatigue. You can also work in the vacuum bags but it doesn't work that great because these centrifuges are not strong enough to get a really solid puck usually.
Good luck
