anyone tried the Foodsaver "Quick Marinator"?

Hi all,

I was ordering a Foodsaver to go with my much-delayed Sansaire, and I noticed that they sell a quick marinator canister accessory. Anyone have any experience of this?

I was wondering if you could use it to do the same sort of instant pickles as with a chamber sealer, but I don't know if it pulls a strong enough vacuum to pop the vacuoles in the plant cells..

No, but I've used the wide mouth jar sealer to flash-pickle with excellent results. (Chioggia beet slices!)

It helps, but don't expect results similar to a chamber vacuum. The texture of plant foods will not be altered.

I'm not expecting full-on vacuum compression, so that's okay. Sounds like it's worth giving it a punt, at least.

So - how'd it go? I did watermelon salad this past weekend, (attempting to imitate an amazing salad we had at the new indonesian tapas-style place here in Toronto) - the owner let us know that she compresses the watermelon and I'm looking forward to trying that this weekend...

Also, interested in infusing cucumbers for drink garnish...
