chamber vacuum (VP112)
Norway_33268
Is there any tricks on how to vacuum seal liquids? I have tried a few times latly and it is not that easy. Sometimes the liquid starts to "boil" then it looks like there is a lot of air in the bag. The bag will float. Is there a limit on how much time the vp112 should pull vacuum with liquids?

Ya I am by no means an expert, that has just been my personal experience, after a few clean ups I decided to prevent them in the future!

@mason
thanks

Yes but depending on the liquid this might make it expand faster if it has some air trapped in it, I think

said that most of the vaccum is pulled in the first few seconds and the remaining time does very little to remove any more air, I have found the problem is when things start to boil, which is why cooling before sealing is important as

said.

I would think that adding some solid volume to the chamber might also speed the cycle time

I try to ramp the bag if possible or make a fold to prevent liquid from getting to the seal bar

thanks for the tips! I've also heard of people propping the front legs of the sealer on a cutting board or putting a rolling pin just behind the front legs. Saw a neat idea as well that used a bench scraper with the rolled handle turned upside down as a "ramp" inside the sealer.

Yes Brendan is right, I as well cool all of the items I seal, less boiling and less moisture in the unit.

I haven't had many issues with liquids in my 112. The boiling is pretty common and as long as you don't put too much liquid in you should be ok. Plus, I would recommend chilling the liquid well below room temp and that may prevent the boil in quick vacuums.

I have used one of the spacers so it got slightly tilted away from the seal bar and made sure that the bag could not move. Then It was easy. Thanks for advice and ideas.

Oh, that is a smart idea, that danged thing is soooo heavy though

I take it a step further for liquids like soup, I take the spacers and place them under the front of the unit so it is slightly tilted and the liquids run away from the seal bar.

I usually make sure I remove the slats in the 215, it looks like you can do the same, then leave a bit extra plastic over the seal bar so it can pull a little, you could add a weight to the bag too I think.
