Was wondering if anyone has any suggestions or opinions on good immersion blenders.
Any info at all greatly appreciated.

The bamix is a good choice if it's available to you. I use the Cuisinart stainless steel model, just make sure whatever you get has metal gears in the housing and not plastic. Mine is similar to the one the team uses in the videos.

I'll second the recommendation on the Bamix. I also just got a Kenwood tri-blade and its really powerful.

Thanks for the info
Have considered going all out on a Bamix but was also looking at the
breville all in one
. With a Cuisinart a second option, do you know of which model the team uses Brendan Lee?

I'm not sure exactly which unit they have but this is the one I have:

You switch speeds by twisting the top of the unit and the housing is all metal. Been great so far.

For what it is worth, I have this one (

purchased on ebay (refurbished from Canada) for about$50 and am very pleased.

Does anyone know of what not to get?
Hahaha might narrow it down a bit more.
But am enjoying the increasing options, kitchenaid looks pretty nice.

Been damned happy with that one. Avoid anything consumer goods.

I have a Bamix, the one with the longer shaft which makes it better for big batches of soup and the like. Love it. the only downside is that the bit that goes in the soup doesn't detach for cleaning so you have to drag the whole thing - including the electrical bit to the sink, or, what I have now started doing, is to have a soda mixing cup full of water with a tiny drop of soap on your workbench and another full of clean water so you can whiz it clean in situ... It's nice to have a number of blades/whippers etc. and I also have the mill which is good for chopping/grinding small amounts of ingredients and is a nice add on. The add ons make it so much more than *just* an immersion blender, which is good when you see the price ;-)

The biggest thing for me is look for something with at least 2 speeds, a detachable bottom, and metal gears in the housing. All the rest of the gadgetry is just superfluous, I've never used any of the attachments and I just blend in quart containers 99% of the time.

I bought this one.....

Thanks for all the suggestions.
Those commercial blenders I did also consider but was unsure if 110V would function correctly in Australian 240V setup without a transformer. I am aware a loss of power can occur if standard travel adapters are used and an expensive transformer is needed.

I'd get a Dynamic minipro for home use.
The only ones that I've seen with a detachable head are the Robot Coupe 450 Turbo B Series.
I'm familiar with that Waring model. It lasted less than a week under heavy commercial use.
I'd bet it would work great in a home setting, though.
Never had a problem with the Dynamic models in smaller commercial kitchens, so that's what I'd lean towards.

Have purchased a Bamix.
Thanks for all the recommendations!
