BKON extraction machine for tea
Brendan_Lee_56950
Saw this article today. Probably won't be long until this shows up in high end bars and restaurants.

Cool stuff. But at $13,000, it will be a while before it hits the home market. At least my home.

$13,000 buys a lot of teabags.

I got to see this in action yesterday. Demo with a green tea and a hibiscus tea. Very different brew process for each. I thought both were excellent, though I'm not an expert on teas by any means. In addition to coffee and tea, they've also done work with alcohol infusions which could be a nice application. I asked about other culinary applications. My head went to dashi stock, aromatic broths, consommes, etc. He was intrigued by the idea but that wasn't something they'd yet considered. I asked when the consumer version might be coming...and it's something they are kicking around. Probably won't be cheap, but maybe on par with a high end home espresso machine. I'm guessing a couple years out at least, but seemed like it was on the board anyway.
