Juvo Sous Vide - yet another SV Kickstarter

Juvo is a 5L water bath that is app controlled and WiFi enabled. Early birds can still get in on £200.

Designed to be remote controlled with a customised ice block it competes against the $400 Mellow.

How it is going to compete against the £75 VonShef SV Water Bath and new $179 Anova is another matter.

It has a nice, modern design, though, that might look good as a permanent fixture on your kitchen counter.

Seriously though, i wouldn't buy it. 5L is pretty small also i don't get the whole app-control thing. What's the point? The usual housewife ain't gonna have an iphone. I feel that the vonShef thing has way more potential, assuming it actually works.

Do you live in America? I haven't met a housewife who doesn't have a smartphone over here. I think the potential to be able to monitor your cook from afar is nice.

no i don't. here in germany smartphones are pretty much only for the young folks.

That's really interesting, i figured Germany would be very tech savvy throughout the population. I would love wifi connectability to the circulator.

Here in the Netherlands everybody has a smartphone, can't imagine it would be any different in Germany.

They do...., they are every where. Magna cum laude Restourants start puting up policys not to use them inside.

well don't get me wrong, smartphones are everywhere, but for most people above say 40 it's basically just another phone with whatsapp and google.

Some people don't have a single app on it, except those that came preinstalled and maybe whatsapp as i said.

The media telling people that the nsa can basically listen to everything they do with their smartphones doesn't help.

I still think that using their phone to cook something might seem too technical for some. but maybe i'm just too old for my age
