Determine Ph of a solution
Imee_34011
Hi, how do i create a solution of ph approximately 9?
with:
____g of calcium hydroxide and ____g of water?
I'm trying to some sort of "Spherification" by boiling a batter containing konjac in a ph9 solution. Will that work?

Saturation of Calcium Hydroxide got a ph of about 11.25 at room temperature. You can make a saturated solution of Calcium Hydroxide and mix a part of it with 175 its volume in water to get your ph. But please be careful when you work with that!

Been a while since I did chemistry
calculations
but here goes.
You want pH 9, so a pOH of 5.
10^-5 = 0.00001
Ca(OH)
2
(aq) ---> Ca
2+
+ 2OH-
0.00001 / 2 = 0.000005 M Ca(OH)2
74.093g X 0.000005 = 0.000370465
So for pH 9 you want 0.000370465g Ca(OH)2 in 1000g water.
