My main problem is air, I put both in, got the torch and lit

Most of it up, still burned out, picked up a fan from the basement that I put at an angle

About 4 ft away, presto - smoke.

Yeah, the tube puts out a lot of smoke....a couple of them are plenty for my little smokehouse.

If you fill the maze completely to the top it may make a difference.....with pellets there has to be a certain volume burning for it to stay dependably lit.

If you do have to use just the dust in the maze, that's no biggy, I actually think that the dust produces smoke that's a bit better...sweeter smelling anyway, especially the hickory.

The tube isn't completely weld proof if you sick a Swede after it,

So, at my altitude pellets burn out in the maze , haven't tried the tube yet

because it seems that dust works really well.

Just got these beauties from Amazn.

I use the tin can and soldering iron. On a 70 degree day it stayed around 75-80 degrees in my kettle the last time I used it. Make sure you get a bpa free can or burn the can you plan to use. I fired up my chimney starter about 1/2 full of coals and set the can in there for about 45 minutes. Burnt everything off.

Yeah, like I said before it will probably not produce much more than the candle sustains since thats the only heat source.

They actually said it worked with cream cheese, that would take it far below 100F wouldn't it?

They advertise it for cheese so I would guess 100F would be the highest (hopefully) it goes.

I realize that but cold smoking usually involves some heat. Usually somewhere between 75 and 110 degrees>

I would assume not much more than that candle provides. It's a cold smoking tool so it's not really designed for that purpose.
