Other than energy cost, is there a reason not to keep one's home fridge and freezer at the coldest setting? Well, as long as the fridge's coldest is still above freezing, which mine is (~33.5 degrees F)

Yes, a lot of vegetables and fruit wont tolerate a setting that cold. Lettuce is the first thing that comes to mind, but there are others.

I think the GE Recommendations we had on a fridge freezer we got earlier this year was 0F and 37F respectively.

@Johan, that's what we have our freezer/fridge set to.
