Searzall?

Anyone know where to buy a searzall or equivalent? It looks like the Kickstarter units are starting to ship, which is good. But I wasn't a backer and can't find it on sale anywhere.

I'm curious if anyone who pre-ordered has gotten theirs yet. Dave Chang tweeted a picture of a pile of Searzalls on 8/28, and last week on Cooking Issues they said that the Searzall's were "in the air" on the way from China. There have been so many delays (which is understandable, and I'm not complaining) that I'm super excited about finally getting mine.

I pre-ordered off their website and got the following email on August 29th....

"Howdy Searzall backers,

Happy Labor Day! We're getting ready to mail your Searzall within the next two weeks, and want to share our initial set-up instructions so you're well-versed in your Searzall's happiness and maintenance.

Please reference the document below as these three steps are very important to the success of yourSearzall. The instructions will live on www.searzall.com as well as accompany your Searzall when it arrives.

Dave Arnold was talking to somebody about this last night, apparently the units have all arrived and are ready to ship out from NY, but there's some lawyer mess left to clear up before the final release. So they're there, just trying to clear that final hurdle.

This thread has been answered, but adding: you can imagine how understandably upset Kickstarter backers would be if Searzalls were available retail before the backers' units were shipped.

Yeah, I don't expect it to be on Amazon prime yet! But a order/preorder page wouldn't be unappreciated.

Looks like it'll be AT LEAST another couple weeks...UGH!!!!!!

I just got this email.....

"Hello patient Kickstarter backers,

We understand that you have been awaiting delivery of your Searzalls while we are finalizing the written materials that will accompany them. We greatly appreciate your patience.

I am deeply sorry that you guys have had to wait so long. I intend to make the wait worth your while. The Searzalls look great and I hope they make you happy. As the first supporters of the first ever Booker and Dax product, you guys will always be special to us. As such you will receive email coupons for the next product we produce that are worth $20.00 US as well as future special offers for our early supporters.

Here is what is happening now: We expect that the Searzalls will be stuffed with written materials and packaged by the end of next week. They will then be air shipped to Amazon by the end of the following week. When Amazon receives the Searzalls, Amazon will then send you an email saying when they have been shipped to you. The Searzalls destined for international customers will also be shipped via our international fulfillment partner out of New Jersey.

Finally, for those of you that are getting Steak Decorators: We have gone through several prototypes with our suppliers, none of which met my high standards. I am getting another round of prototypes in next week that should be fantastic --I will post photos and tell you when I have released them for final production.

Just got mine and am about to season it - will use it for a dinner party on Thursday to crisp up the skin on some olive oil sous-vide poached salmon. Woo hoo!

I love it. Quite simply, this is the best piece of equipment I have acquired since my Circulator... No more searing off in a pan or frying in oil to crisp up skin or develop a crust. It basically gives me a handheld Salamander... Awesome.
