Searzall shipped
Brendan_Lee_56950
just got the long awaited email that it has shipped from the warehouse in AZ (ironically down the street from my parents' place) and scheduled to arrive the 18th.
I'm excited to give it a whirl.

Just got an e-mail... mine should be here Thursday. Can't wait! I also can't wait to see what sort of fun applications the community can come up with for the Searzall.

Can people please post unboxing and first thoughts?
I held off buying the first run thinking they'd be a Searzall 2.0 but according to the Rt. Hon. Arnold that's it and they'll be aviable on Amazon.com with no intl' shipping. Boo-hoo.

I'm sure there will be reviews all over. I should have mine thursday.

Mine arrived today - the set-screw was loose and bouncing around the box so watch out.
(Unfortunately the diameter of my torch was a bit too big so I didn't get a chance to try it out)

Mine has been in town for 2 days now and they haven't got around to delivering it yet. Fingers crossed for tonight, though I really could've used it last night.

My tracking says that some sort of problem occurred due to a late trailer arrival and now i'm not sure when it's arriving.

Ok, so mine arrived a couple of days ago (early!). Unfortunately, I caught a nasty cold and haven't done too much with it-- other than marshmallows and melting some cheese, both of which it worked very well for.
Initial thoughts - It's quite powerful, and easier to control the heat than just the straight blowtorch. I went and bought the TS8000 torch head and green squat propane cylinder for it as recommended by the mfr. I
highly
recommend the TS8000 head--it puts out
a lot
of heat compared to what I was used to with my previous torch head (the TS3000) and presumably the TS4000!
Installation was pretty simple. Read the directions; the spacing/placement on the torch is very important and you have to "season" the whole thing for 2 minutes by pointing it down at the ground while firing.
I think it works as advertised - heats up real quick, nice radiant heat, no torch taste that I could discern (although my palate was not 100% due to the cold) and it cools quickly too!
I'm excited to put it through it's paces this weekend!

Anyone in the UK found a good source for torch and propane? Finding a UK 16.4oz canister is proving very tricky...

The literature that comes with the unit says not to use the MAP/Pro fuel, anyone know why? Brandon B has helped with a comment in another thread that says it relates to the stability of the bottle with the Searzall attached. Thanks
Brendan_Lee_56950
It's solely based on the stability of the unit, they want you to use the wide green coleman camping canisters so it can sit stable with the attachment on it. I tried it with both since I had just enough fuel left in my old MAPP canister to do the seasoning and it gets a bit wobbly, it will stand but it's a lot more stable with the green canisters.
Brendan_Lee_56950
I put it through it's paces today. Seasoning step was very straightforward, it heats up really quickly. I seared some chicken thighs tonight for dinner and it's definitely going to take some practice to get the angles right, It's also going to get tiring holding that sucker if you were to sear a large batch of something.
Jack_Mayer_85396
I forgot about a Coleman green bootle I had stashed away. I'll save the MAP/Pro for when I run out of fuel at the worst possible time. Thanks for confirming what I suspected.
randy7fx
Anyone know if these are available anywhere? I checked Amazon and don't find them. Thanks.
