Recommendations: Electric Pasta Roller?

Hello Friends!

I'm in the market for a professional / commercial electric pasta roller.

A) I don't have an excessive amount of room; IE large table top dough sheeter.

While serviceable, I'm growing tired of my annual purchase of the kitchen aide attachment.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

What type of volume are you doing at once? I know of restaurants that use the kitchen aid style attachment or even hand cranked rollers for their pasta, and the equipment lasts years.

I have had my Kitchen Aid roller for many years and never had a problem. I preroll the pasta with a rolling pin to get it close to the size so the dough and roller are not over worked. Roll on the lowest speed setting, make sure the dough is well rested prior to rolling helps too. I use a very dry, hard dough that has to be kneaded by hand as home equipment cannot do the job.

Commercial equipment is not cheap and you will be limited in North America to 120v for use in your home. You need to be doing serious volume to justify a $1,600 120v roller vs a $80 Kitchen Aid attachment - you could replace the kitchen aid every year for 20 years for that price.

I agree with your logic based on the high cost of commercial equipment. However I failed to mention on top of the annual roller attachment purchase (its the width adjustment that usually craps out first) we have burned out 2 commercial kitchen aids in the last 5 years @ $700 a piece. Im on the fence about this expensive decision. But I think I'm leaning towards a single purpose roller, to save ware and tear on the kitchen aid....
