Mandolines - which one?

I have an OXO Mandoline that I have been using for a few years, but I think its time to get a new one. What are the best Japanese Mandolines on the market right now? At one time the Benriner was the one everyone would rave about, has this changed? What is currently the best Mandoline on the market, and why?

I second that, make sure you buy the bigger one though, the small one is just barely big enough

Have the same as Mathew. On my second blade (still waiting for that sharpening video). :-) Love it though. just need a better way to store it.

Benriner for sure I got one and it rocks defiently get the bigger one though if you are able to as the regular size can't fit somethings like large onions. Only reason to buy regular size is that it fits nicely into my knife roll

I've sharpened my blade several times. I just unscrew it and then sharpen on the non-flat slide until I create a burr on the flat side and flip and repeat until it gets fairly smooth and then finish on the fine grit. Sharper now than ever.

So if you haven't figured it out yet... BENRINER!! Simple, practical, durable. I've had mine for years. I agree the larger version would be more versatile. But I've only ever had the smaller one and I'm in no hurry to buy another except to have one for work and one for home so I can keep it out of the knife roll!
