Merry Christmas everybody! Get anything worth mentioning here? This was the fist year in awhile I didn't get much cooking stuff, which just means I practically have everything I can fit in my apartment. Notice how I didn't say I have everything I want/need;) Anyway, these were some Christmas gifts

I didn't get much cooking stuff either. Like yourself I have almost everything I need. So much that I can't use it all. In fact I bought myself a set of DeBuyer Mineral B carbon steel pans last year on Black Friday and have yet to use them! Haha.

More hunting then cooking stuff this year. New Scope for my rifle and lead sled, some first lite hunting apparel. In kind of a hunting/cooking overlap I did get the kitchen aid grinder attachment and sausage maker. I also got notes from a kitchen vol 3, which looks to be a pretty cool book.

I've already been through it twice. I really like how it's organized and I forsee it pushing me towards more vegetable cooking.

Got a couple books like relae, tartine bread, and liquid intelligence. Also got a new apron from http://mediumrarechef.com/chef-gear/aprons and some tea stuff so a pretty good year =p

Those aprons are awesome. A little pricy though but probably worth it give that I cook almost every day, which means I wear an apron almost every day. I've been looking for some nice aprons, most are really basic and boring

The Bread+Flour past book from SF and pasta roller/cutter attachments for my kitchen aid. Also, got myself the macaroons class. So, basically, 2015 is gonna be a chubby year.

Yeah, I had quite a good fall hunting season. Truthfully though, yeah that Pappy 15 is awesome, but the William Larue Weller is the best thing I've ever had. Unreal.

Oh definitely. Maybe the Pappy 20 gives it a run for its money, but probably not. Pappy has a HUGE hype behind it, and while it is great stuff, there are better bourbons out there (just not many).

That William Laure Weller is a wheated bourbon, just like Pappy, but uncut and unfiltered, making it a barrel proof bourbon at 140.2 proof. It is incredible intense, yet amazingly smooth. The finish lasts forever.

Pappy benefits from the hype machine and the fact that bottles of it sell on the secondary market for $500 to $1500, and more. People want it mostly to sell and make a profit rather than drink. It just adds to its elusiveness. Is it fantastic stuff? Yeah. The 2nd or 3rd best bourbon i own, but it isn't the end of the line when it comes to great bourbon. There are still things out there that stack up just as well or sometimes come out on top.
