Pulled out my sharpening stone over the holidays and discovered it had grown mold; presumably, it wasn't fully dry when I put it away. The moist environment is obvious, but I'm befuddled about its' food source.
But more importantly - should I toss it? I assume that the mold roots go pretty deep, even if I soak it in 10% bleach solution for a while. And obviously I'd wash the knife after sharpening. But still: ew.
