By the way, the Vitamix is way less efficient: the highest power model they have (at $690 fixed price) is 2.2 hp and 1440 watts (650 watts per HP).
@Dennis, I am not an engineer, but my understanding is that other than the issue of energy efficiency, if we are talking about a machine like a blender for which we are not concerned with heat output (as we would be if we were talking hair dryers) then we should only care about wattage as it relates to efficiency, i.e. how much energy does it take to generate that HP. ( Watts divided by HP) Please correct me if I am wrong. By the way, the Waring is not even spec'd in watts - I did that calculation my self.
