Dinner and Flatware

Hey all,

Looking for some cheap/moderately priced dinner and flatware that will look nice for food presentation.

Looking to work on my plating and would like some nice white plates for entrees, pastas, etc. Nothing too crazy, just clean lines, relatively modern, and reasonably affordable.

IKEA Actually has pretty nice white plates.

CB2 have good stuff.

Also visit local Asian markets/stores and you will be surprised at what you can find.

Don't be afraid of non white plates too.

Restaurant supply stores often tend to have sales, I find a lot of cheap nifty stuff at the ones here.

Thanks, all. CB2 looks interesting...and even cheaper than Ikea. Any recommendations for plates I should grab? What do you guys typically use during a small dinner party?

Keep in mind a small dinner party for me is 8 or less. If you are doing only 6 courses thats 48 plates +. I have trained my guests to keep certain flatware or you are looking at 48 forks, 32 knives etc. Consider storage when looking at the plate sizes, I love big plates with only a small amount of food on them and while I have the room it gets used up in a hurry, plus small plates are a lot less expensive and you can still do cool things with them.

I have four place settings of the Grand City tableware from Fortessa. (Which is looks like they don't make anymore? They use them at Animal Restaurant (where I first found them) and at Umami Burger.

Try HomeGoods for plates. They carry Palm Steakhouse-licensed tablewear that is pretty nice. Personally, we have the "Aspen" tableware from C+B.
