Blender to buy?
keithlisun
Hi ChefSteps!
I noticed in your more recent videos you are using a Vitamix. Have you guys made the switch from the Waring Xtreme blender? I'm contemplating getting a high powered blender and was wondering what you would recommend.
Thanks!
Keith

Which video? In the onion puree video they are still using the Waring.
I am quite sure Vitamix is a fine product, just very very expensive. $350 gets you the Waring, while the Vitamin will run you over $500 at least. I think of the marketing dollars that go into Vitamix, and realize (as the specs are similar) that the difference in price is likely due to that rather then a better engineered product.
Just my two cents, I am sure others have thoughts.

There are lots of us here who are happy with the Waring. I've used it extensively to make smoothies, soups, sauces, nut butter, nut milks, salad dressing, and frozen drinks. It seems to perform just as well as my parent's Vitamix, but you don't need to use the tamper with it and it's significantly cheaper. I'm very happy with it, and judging from the Amazon.com reviews, a lot of other people are too.

Americas Test Kitchen recommended the KitchenAid some time ago (I have one). Their main finding is that the container have a square-type shape to increase the internal flow. The KA ia round but has indentations that give it the squarish internal shape. I have heard there were some motor problems, but I have not had any trouble. Much cheaper alternative.

I used to have that model. They stopped recommending it because the blade assembly wasn't reliable and would leak. Mine developed this problem and I'd have to totally clean the blender base (and the bottom of the pitcher) every time I used it. There are apparently ways to fix this, but none are permanent -- you have to keep re-tightening the blade. Overall, it's a good blender but it's not really a substitute for a high-powered blender. When we stepped up to the Waring, my wife wondered "Why do we even need a new blender?". The first time she used it, she said "Oh. I see!". If you don't do a whole lot of blending, the Kitchen Aid is a good and inexpensive choice. But if you're going to be blending frequently, a Waring or Vitamix is highly recommended.

I think you can go for the stainless steel electric blender one because it has much stronger blades. Go check Ovente's
