Restaurant supply online
Bryan_33366
I don't have a good local restaurant supply store near me that allows non-restaurant customers. Is there a good company online? I am looking to buy some hotel pans in various sizes.

I wouldn't actually be catering anything, it's just a convenient way to get access to the store.

An option is to set up a DBA (Doing Business As) or LLC. Depending on your state this can be a rather painless and cheap thing to do - other states a nightmare and expensive. Check out SBA.gov. If you are doing catering on the side understand the state and federal implications if things go pearshaped and how to ensure your arse is covered.

I think you can get away with a non-profit tax ID too. I'm looking into whether we can get one under my wife's jewelry business for "catering" purposes

Yeah, RD is a wholesale-only membership club type store. Need a reseller permit to get a membership.

That's where I am too
@bryan
and quite honestly there's not much around us as far as places to go. Restaurant Depot has a store in alexandria but you need a business ID to get in. I have a card through a friend who did catering but I think it's run out since then. We are sorely lacking in that area around here.

This place is called Surfas, and is in Culver City and used to be a monthly habit for me. In-store they have hard-to-find meats and cheeses, but I don't think that stuff is available online.
BTW, where is 'near you'?
