Flavored coffee
Bryan_33366
I sometimes enjoy flavored coffee. I like the idea, but the coffee beans are usually poor quality and the flavoring is mass produced and artificial. I roast my own coffee beans at home and I wonder if anyone else would know how to make the "flavoring" that the commercial beans are tossed in. Is it some kind of sugar syrup mixed with artificial flavoring? For example, if I wanted to create an almond flavored coffee, how would / could I got about doing that in a more natural way?

Almond extracts can be found pretty easily in oil form as can many other flavorings. I am guessing oils would be best so they coat the beans while roasting instead of water/alcohol based ones that may evaporate with the heat.
