I just took delivery of an Anova Precision and I'm loving the results, convenience, consistency etc. But an unexpected side effect of cooking Sous Vide is how wasteful it appears to be.
Heating 8 litres of water to cook a couple steaks seems wrong, especially given drought conditions in parts of the world. Is it safe to re-use this water or must it be disposed after every cook session?
I'm also very aware of wasting zip-lock bags. Is there a safe way to clean / sterilise these after each use as they seem perfectly re-usable to me (provided they're clean)?
Anyone have any tips / comments on these points?
