Howdy!
I have an
iSi Soda Siphon (specifically
iSi 2248 Soda Siphon 1 Liter) and am wondering if I can adapt its use to some of the techniques that use whipping siphons.
I'm pretty positive that foams would be a disaster due to how the spout/spigot whatever you want to call it works, but I imagine carbonation and the quick-pickling methods would probably work just as well.
The things I'm a bit stumped by are:
- The soda siphon has a gasket/straw combo that helps get the soda water / liquid out from the bottom. Can I remove this? I think this also prevents releasing excess gas to do an additional charge.
- There is also a "measuring tube" that prevents you from overfilling the container, which I'm unsure about removing.
- Is it safe to do multiple charges? The manual/literature only mentions using one.
Does anyone have any experience using this type of siphon for applications such as carbonating fruit, quick pickling etc? I'd really like to avoid picking up a whipping siphon if I can.
Appreciate your input, this is an awesome community!
