Is there a problem with my circulator?

So this past week I invested in a Thermapen (finally) and tonight while doing some cooking I decided to throw the probe in the water bath just for fun. The problem is that my Thermapen reads consistently at least 1 degree lower than what the circulator is reading. Should I be concerned? Any tips on what to do? Do I trust the circulator or the Thermapen?I couldn't figure out how to rotate the picture on my phone so sorry about that.

The protein's core temperature read just about 143.5 after I pulled it out.

I'd do the eggs at 63 and compare to an egg-chart, if they are good you are fine.

@parker if you are using an iphone take the picture in portrait mode. I figured this out a while back. Hopefully I helped!!

Also I would check to see if you happened, very easy to do, set an offset on the menu of the circulator. I use both NIST traceable mercury thermometers and a NIST traceable digital thermometer just to verify both of my circulators.

@Johan @RED, so I finally contacted Polyscience about my circulator and they said to test it set at 0 C in ice water (with a tray protecting the pump from ice) and my circulator read 0.6 degrees too warm. I asked them if I could just offset the circulator and it was recommended that I send the unit into them for them to check out

looks like I'll be out of commission for a few weeks...

@ParkerCook- that sounds extreme to me as 0.6C is not that bad IMHO if one can adjust for it. I would verify the temp and if it is off then just set to that offset if it is linear..If not linear then, send it in for calibration... Good luck
