Using CO2 chargers with Whipping siphon for carbonated beverages
Ken_Struys_55680
Is it possible to make carbonated water with a whipping siphon instead of specifically getting a soda siphon?

Yes just use CO2 cartridges instead of the N2O. It's kind of a waste of money if your doing it in large quantities though since it takes me sometimes 3-4 cartridges to get the amount of bubbles I want in my 1L siphon.

Really important tip when trying to carbonate in a siphon. Charge once, then holding the siphon upright, release all of the gas. This purges the siphon of air. That's really important, because otherwise you're compressing air with the added CO2 and you'll never get it as fizzy. You want an all CO2 environment. You'll see us doing this in our carbonated negroni cocktail recipe.

Good to know. I should try that and compare to see how different it is.

I second
@Chris
; I do that every time I make carbonated fruit and they come out literally with bubbles bursting out of them. Works like a charm. Carbonated red grapes have been my most requested party food since I first tried them!

When modifying this recipe for a .5 liter siphon, should only one cartridge be used to carbonate, after the air purging step?
