Lisbon.., 10 Days, first week of August. I took quarters in the old part of town real nice hotel 10minutes walk way from the Praça do Comércio right on the waterline. The old part of town is where you want to stay if you up to explore all the different taverns and small restaurants and local eatery’s. You find plenty of them in every Side Street and corner, serving not only down to earth excellent Portuguese food but also a wide variety of wines and port’s.
For a little as $8,00 I got a tasting of wild Boer, suckling pig cheeks, pawns and pickled vegetable salad just around the corner and right for lunch.
Thi place had a serrano ham out of this world; you can see their love and devotion to wine. The whole bar is filled up with bottles; I never got to see the tender behind it.
Iced tomato soup, with roasted toast and olive oil, a very decent sent of garlic, just the right stuff for a brunch.
It goes without saying I shopped while I was there; Ham every sort of sausage they had.
This slicer is in daily use, slicing paper thin ham.
