Which water bath?
Tom_Durell_10550
For a home cook, would you recommend getting the
PolyScience Creative Series Immersion Circulator
with tank and lid or go for the
SousVide Supreme Demi Red
?
Thanks,
Tom

I have used the SousVide Supreme and currently have the PolyScience Professional circulator. I prefer the PolyScience because I can attach it to different size vessels...though now it resides in a Cambro container......also can see the food without having to open a lid.by...the way, the Cambro tank can be had for much less than it is sold for on the PolyScience website. (Shop around, I think I got mine for almost half the price.) I don't know this for a fact, but it seems the response time (heating) is faster. ...it looks cooler (in my opinion) in the kitchen. Storage of Poly might be easier for home cook. One caution, if going with the Poly...be careful of the surface that you place the container on. Make sure it can withstand the heat. Mine now sits on a strong wire rack 2 inches above my counter. One more note....SVS is virtually silent...Poly makes a whirring noise as it circulates. Might be a deal breaker if you are easily annoyed.

If money is no deterrent, go with the Polyscience. It's more versatile and it doesn't limit the space with which you can cook like the sous vide supreme will.

I agree with both
@Frank
and
@Brendan
, I have both units and use the PolyScience more frequently. The SVS is my back-up if there is a long cook going on the the PS unit or if I need 2 different temps. You can get a good deal on the PolyScience units and Cambro tanks and lids right here on the ChefSteps site! It helps them out too! That's where I bought mine.
