Kitchen gadgets / small appliances to get

My kitchen is starting to get cluttered with little gadgets and small appliances. I got the new KitchenAid Pro Line 7Qt mixer (and it's super powerful and quiet, I absolutely love it). I ended up getting the 5 speed immersion blender (also KitchenAid) and comes with multiple attachments, great for soups.

Now I'm wanting to get several other things like a waffle maker, blender, cold press juicer, ice cream machine. I'm holding myself back from stocking my kitchen up with small appliances.

I'm wondering if there's any recommendations on what to get in terms of usefulness. I've seen some versatility in waffle makers since some of them have interchangeable plates. I'm using my immersion blender like an actual blender, which has been working great.

(I also have the Anova, I sous vide all the time)

If you juice a fair amount (or plan to) I have the champion juicer and have been pleased. We don't eat allot of waffles or pancakes so can't comment there. For the blender I would recommend the waring xtreme and if you plan on doing allot of single or really small serving of purees, I would even consider a magic bullet (it has saved me many times with the smaller servings). Wasn't mentioned but if you have a family and want sort of an all in one, I would seriously consider the thermomix. It's not necessary for many modern approaches but it is kick ass convenient. Pressure cooker, seives, maybe an induction plate would all be high on my list. I'd forget the ice cream maker personally and if stuck on it, just get the kitchen aid attachment and stick it in the freezer for the times you don't have dry ice or LN2 :-). Immersion circulator (if you don't have one), chamber vac.....and that's all I can think of off the top of my head......maybe a cot for the spare bedroom when your significant other sees you walk in the door with all this stuff.....;-)

Pressure cooker and Immersion Circulator are the two big things for me. A thermapen is just incredibly useful as well. Personally I am not that big on most gadgets, I find thermometers, good knives, chopping boards, pans etc. to be far far better investments.

It's hard to go wrong with an immersion circulator, a pressure cooker, and a high-powered blender (like a Vitamix or a Waring MX12000XTX). Those are my top 3 kitchen appliances in terms of usefulness. If you learn how to use them with a wide range of ingredients and techniques, your food will be both more delicious and more convenient to prepare. A pressure cooker is like a time machine that allows you to cook things in a fraction of the duration it would take in the oven or on the stovetop. And an immersion circulator will allow you to easily and consistently produce evenly cooked food, often with cleaner and brighter flavors than if cooked conventionally. And the circulator's ability to transform tough cuts of meat into silky, tender deliciousness without overcooking them is truly magical.

Though I have a preference for stovetop pressure cookers, you might consider checking out the Instant Pot which is an electric model. You can sear food inside it, and it will also function as a rice cooker, crock pot, steamer, and a warmer. It's definitely multiple gadgets in one, and people seem to really love them.

I use my blentec blender and pressure cooker all the time! Waffle iron needs to be dusted off.

Does the magic bullet get purees smooth enough? When I'm doing a dinner party I often need ~200g of a sauce or puree and end up making ~500g so the full sized blender can run, loosing ~100g to the bottom of the blender jar, and then having ~200g too much anyway.

Depending on the puree, yes as long as you push throgh a sieve after (which I do with any puree now). Dates, raisins and Prunes etc it's tougher on them as they are sticky, but most fruit and veggie purees of he smaller quantities are ok if you have 200g. Lesser quantities require more work (shaking the container and re-blending) but can also work,

I have quite a few small aplliances (ice cream maker, stick blender, stand mixer, food processor, deep fryer, contact grill, immersion circulator, blender and what ever i forgot). The single most useful tool in my kitchen are my circulators apart from my knife.a food processor is handy but if you only have small quantities you can do the same with a knife. i'd say you need a circulator, a ice cream machine and some kind of blender, because those are the things that actually enable you to do stuff you couldn't otherwise instead of just saving time. Oh and a juicer if you're into that kind a thing.

That said i love my pressure cooker. Even just for stocks, i think it's worth it.

Only problem is that most electric PC don't go over about 10psi. Make sure to consider that when you're choosing.

Do you have an electric kettle? I remember the time when me and my wife get our first condominium, the first thing that we bought was a fridge and a kettle. We got our fridge from panasonic while the electric kettle is from Ovente online. We spend almost 3 years of our marriage making tea using dragon and oolong ones from new England.
