Stovetop Cost Efficiency

I'm wondering how much it costs to have my stove top turned at 62C per hour so I can calculate how much it'd cost me to sous-vide stuff for long periods of time.

I know the cost of the Kwh here rounds at about 0.2279€ but I have no idea about the wattage/voltage/whatever on my stove. It's really old so it's probably not very power effective.

If I do 0.2279€x72H (time I want to cook for), it equals 16€ (!!!) but I'm not sure that's how it's done since it's not turned to full capacity.

You would need to either plug in a meter to your stove As you're using it to measure theI amount of electricity you're using or contact the manufacturer. There isn't enough information in your posting to really give you an answer, not that i can see anyway.

I would not recommend doing extended sous vide cooking on the stovetop.

And with the cost of an Anova or SansAire circulator down to about the same as a good skillet or knife, its not too big a splurge ... When I first got interested in SV cooking the price of admission was PolyScience and about $1200!

As someone who got their start cooking SV on the stovetop method, I concur. It's not really appropriate for cooks longer than about an hour. It's just too difficult to maintain an accurate temperature.

Not a problem if all you're cooking are salmon fillets or a couple pork chops. But no way I'd be considering the stovetop method for, say, the 72-hour pastrami.

Go for julabo sousvide system. Check the crazy less kwh for 60 degrees. U can t top that with Ur stove
