Sous vide bath lid

I've been using the 4.75g Cambro boxes for my two Anovas and I'm looking for a lid solution. Trying to decide between cutting a couple lids to fit the circulators, or order a 1000 count box of 20mm HDPE spheres. I like the idea of the spheres being more modular, being able to adhere to different container sizes or shapes. If I go with actual lids I'll order a couple more and have them laser cut locally for a clean cut.

Does anybody have a preference one way or the other for lid types, pros/cons?

The store here at ChefSteps is where I got my lid with a cut-out for the circulator. I don't think they sell them anymore but maybe one of the CS team could direct you to a source for the lids ...

I'd notch a lid, one piece, easy to clean, closes tight, you can use it to secure the bags as well.

When I got my setup I asked the same question here. I recall some people saying it can be more problematic than you'd think.

Ultimately, after some wisdom from CS' Ben "Obi-Wan Ke-"Johnson, I just bought the pre-cut lids that they sell for the PolyScience units. For short cooks, the gap between the Anova and the edge of the lid is no issue. For cooks lasting longer than about three hours, I cover the gap with cling film and call it a day.

Hole ... I cut a hole in mine works well . I also have som light weight insolation that i saw on youtube .. even after i turn it off hold heat for about 30 min..

We have taken a completely different approach to Sousvide to make sure that there is a lid and you do not loose any water. check it out on KS.
