Buffalo DM868?

So... Joule looks lovely
but
won't be available until 2016 in Ireland. So in the meantime... has anyone used one of these in anger and if so, will it do the job or will I be taking a hammer to it out of frustration inside of a week?

Check for other reviews etc (or contact the company for references) but the specs look decent.

Went digging for reviews; they seem very scarce indeed. I'm guessing it's more seen in professional cooking than amateur cooking (hence the asking here
).

A guy I know works as a Chef who cooks at people's homes and he's got two of these and they seem to be quite good.

Polyscience was very much the same when I purchased a few years ago. I do wonder if Joule wouldn't work with a simple adapter. For pcs, medical devices etc this is often the case.

FWIW, It looks nearly identical to the VacMaster SV-1

If you want something now for around the same price as the joule, the only thing you should be looking at is the ANOVA. It's great, and under $200.

It's here! And it works quite well, though I'm going to need a bigger container...
Rather quiet, heated 8L of water from room temp to 60C in just under ten minutes, and agrees with my infrared thermometer to within a degree C.
Looking forward to trying cool stuff with this

If anyone else doesn't want to wait you can get a Nomiku (which is what I use after trying out Annova and Sansaire too) discounted using the coupon code 'moodtherapist' from this link
http://www.nomiku.com/collections/featured
It'll give you $50 bucks off the Classic making it just $149 which is a steal (though they only have 240v in stock at the moment - but good for non US based cooks!) or $35 off the new wifi model, even with the current reduced price which is because it is in pre-order i.e. you'll have to wait a month or two. But if you're going to wait, maybe you'd rather wait for Joule :-)
