Adjusting 1l siphon to work with less

When i bought my siphon i taught a 1l would be a better choice since there will be times when i will need more than 0.5 l, obviously . My question is : if i add less than a litre, 500 ml for example, do i need to compensate the empty space with an extra nitrous charge ? Another question is : If my siphon is for cold applications only , what are the consequences of making hot foams ?

I haven't found extra charges are needed, but usually do a test. Worse case it would be one more charge. I believe it's the metal that is designed for the hot or cold applications and if so, am off taste may develop.

I will make some tests and tell you what i have found out . And regarding hot on cold siphons ,there are several things that came through my mind : 1 the tap's rubber sealer might expand and contract, causing leeks and in time irreversible damage ,2 since its made of alluminum, it might speed un the reaction with the acids or 3 the siphon can't handle the pressure on heat since the atoms agitation is higher .

The Gourmet chef plus (for hot and cold applications) has a gasket made from silicon whereas the cheaper ones are something else (rubber?) not suitable for hot use. If you have a cold use only one you can simply buy a silicon gasket and you're good to go.
