Removing oil from a liquid

Hey guys i have been racking my brain and the forums for a solution.

How to remove that oil slick that is sometimes left on the top of a liquid, along with the very tiny particles within the liquid.

Is there anything i can do to remove these. i have tried muslin, paper coffee filters etc. Maybe something a bit more scientific could help, Methylcellulose F50??

Anyone that has any ideas i would love to hear them!

Take it off the heat and add a good amount of ice, let it sit just a few minutes then skim out the ice with the congealed fat. If it melts you didn't use enough ice or you let it sit to long. Some will melt a little.

Put it in a vessel that has a spigot on the bottom. Drain until you reach the area where the fat has accumulated. Or you could use one of these
