I was really frustrated about almost never getting a decent picture of my plates with my phones due to horrible lighting conditions, as my house has mostly yellowish/orange shades and chandeliers.
Today, after reading a CS blog post about lighting and how they do their photography, along with a few other posts on the web and a member's post here on the forum who had gotten a DIY softbox setup, I got to work on making my food look better on camera!
And I made this in my spare room's desk, which I rarely use:

A really bright white chandelier with a white cloth on top to disperse the light, pointed towards a set of thick white curtains, a few big white sheets on the walls and on the desk, setup tripeds for both cameras with angles that work on most (if not all) plates I work with, a plate with carrots to test results and EUREKA! Shitty food photos and desperate attempts at overcorrecting in post-editing: no more!
Soon this month I'll be doing a really nice & pretty carrot dish for my portfolio, I'll post the results here, but even from just simple carrots on a plate: lighting is perfect! Happy days!
